Most possibly no people have climbed this mountain range

The Nepalese consider this to be a holy place. the prime reason why they say so is because it has been untouched

It lies crossways Modi Khola in Pokhara

If you visit this place then you are sure to be spellbound by taking a look at sun’s reflection.

It is considered to be one amongst the photogenic mountains on earth

If you want to get a close up view of Macchapuchre then you need to take a mountain flight from Pokhara. This will help you get a sightseeing tour of the western part of the Himalayas. It is true that the Annapurna is the highest amongst the Western Himalayas but then it is Macchapuchre that dominates the rest in the neighborhood.

This mountain is revered by the locals and is considered to be a sacred mountain. The mountain is located towards the end of an elongated spur ridge and comes south of the chief backbone of the Annapurna Himal which forms the eastern boundary of the Annapurna Sanctuary. This sanctuary is believed to be one of the favorite trekking destinations. And guess what? The peak of this mountain is nearly twenty five km north of Pokhara, the chief town of the region.

Because of its southern position in the Annapurna range, and chiefly due to the low terrain which lies south of the Annapurna Himal, this mountain commands tremendous vertical relief in a small horizontal distance. This, in addition to its steep as well as pointed profile, makes it a predominantly striking peak. Its dual summit is somewhat the tail of a fish, hence the name implying "Fish's Tail" in Nepalese.  It is also famous as the "Matterhorn of Nepal".

It is true that till date nobody has climbed Macchapuchre but then Jimmy Roberts and his team did make an attempt in 1957. So, the next time you plan your visit make sure to view the striking Macchapuchre Mountains.
