The amount of restaurants and small nice terraces is quite large in Katmandu, especially in Thamel, the touristic area of the Nepalese capital.

Hotel Manang restaurant: The restaurant of the hotel Manang is another interesting place for a nice meal, while enjoying a quiet and welcoming place. It is a very nice place, and very quiet for the travelers who want to get relaxed before a long day of walking. The employees are very kind and, also here, they don’t change from a month to another. The owner’s wife is usually present and she gets into talks with the clients about their trekking or their vacation plans. The place is very interesting for reading and avoiding the loud noise of the Katmandu city. A pleasant activity, while sitting on very comfortable benches. Manang is a 3 star hotel established in the Nepali capital about 20 years ago. Considering its location (in the middle of Thamel – 8km from the airport), the hotel and the restaurant are perfect to enjoy the comfort of a voyage in the Nepalese capital.

Local restaurant (Dal Bhat): Even though the Dal Bhat is very popular in all the Katmandou restaurants, it doesn’t have the same quality everywhere. The Tarkari restaurant is little known by the tourists, but it is said they serve the best Dal Bhat from the town (and take into account we are in the country of Dal Bhat). The restaurant can easily be found by asking a Nepalese: « tarkari restaurant kahaa tsa? Where is the restaurant Tarkari?». Even though you won’t understand the answer, you can certainly understand the signs of the person you are talking to. To give you some directions, the restaurant is located between Hotel Manang and Hotel Mandap. The Tarkari restaurant is located on the second floor of a building overlooking the corner of a street (you can see an arch there).
