Trek in Mustang

Usually the tourists come to Nepal and they lead to Solu- Khumbu in the shadow of Mount Everest. As still Everest is still the highest peak on earth and its stunning adventure to do trekking to likes of Gokyo Ri, and Kala Pattar and Chukung Ri.

Annapurna Circuit is the second hiking goal of note in the Nepal Himalayas which is from Pokhara along the Marsyangdi River valley to the unseen Manang area which is the north of the fish-tail mount of Machapuchare and the impressive Annapurna peak.

Annapurna Sanctuary is opting by many visitors which are gratifying trek up to the Annapurna base camp where wide scenery of High Himalayas from Dhaulagiri to Himalchuli and Manaslu is offered. But often overlooked is the trek along the very bottom of the Kali Gandaki river gorge. It’s simply outstanding the experience of crossing through towns of Tatopani to Tukuche, passing from height of 5,000 to 8,500 feet above the sea level and looking up at the scene framed by 26,800 feet high Dhaulagiri massif to the west and 26,500 Annapurna Range to the east is simply astounding.

The peak of these two mounts ranges are only some 20 miles separately and altitudes both towers is of over 26,000 feet and the Kali Gandaki River incises its way between them at a height of only some 6,000 feet and the point of vantage of such a remarkable upright divergence is truly astonishing.

However when you experience the scenery, environmental situations and physical characteristics while it’s progressing to the north alongside the river from its lower reaches all the way to the rain shadow of the Himalayas. Well a fascinating glimpse of history and understanding of a cultural makeup and settlement patterns of the Nepal Himalayas is also offered.

A thawing pot of civilizations, of Ancient Nepalese and civilizations that transferred into the area from the south as well as the north, is Kali Gandaki,

Lower reaches of the Kali Gandaki River vale which means the region in heights lower than rice fostering limit of about 5,000 feet above sea point. In history it was settled by two of so called Ancient Nepalese racial groups who were named as Gurungs and Magars. However, the Ancient Nepalese competitions have not remained the only pioneers of the striking middle-hills area.

There can the Tibetan inhabitant groups from the north, from Tibet proper, who established in the rain shadow of the Himalayas, in the Inner Himalayan vales such as the Baragaunle towns in the side vales of the Kali Gandaki which is behind Dhaulagiri and Annapurnas or its case of the Thakalis while deciding to settle alongside of Kali Gandaki and its side valleys but not below 8,000 feet and while favoring the less ruthless climatic situations than those of Upper Mustang.

Though Thakalis since late 19th century proclaimed themselves as Hindus, just in order to increase their social position have since late 19th century, the first sight of their villages demonstrates they were Buddhist..
