The Annapurna Base Camp trail is one of the favorites, based on the number of visitors to the area. The reason for its popularity lies in its location, conveniently reached from Pokhara, which is a major destination by itself. Also, the trail offers opportunities for both casual walkers as well as the more serious trekkers. Finally, it is the view of the Annapurna range, which is prettier than the ones further east, that draws the crowds.

 

The ABC trek has ample tea houses along the way to let you pace yourself during the trek. In the upper reaches, you might be lucky enough to see the wild mountain goats along the way.

 

If you come from Kathmandu, you will arrive in Pokhara a day in advance of departure. Indeed, the journey between the capital of Nepal and Pokhara takes about 6-8 hours. But if the roads are blocked, the journey can take 13h. The travel time between Kathmandu and Pokhara can vary greatly depending on traffic controls or traffic on the road. Departure from Pokhara to Naya Pool: The Yeti hotel, take a taxi that takes you to a small bus station in the city. The ride to Naya Pool takes about 1h30. If time permits, you may be trying to make the journey on the roof. This is a fun adventure but with a certain degree of risk. The roads were very bad, it must be held.
First step to Naya Pool Ghorepani
Second stage: Ghorepani to Thadapani
Third stage: Tadhapani to Chhömröng

The day begins with a descent of about 45 important minutes. You can take tea in a small restaurant instead. You decide whether you stay there to go enjoy the thermal baths (located Jiling). To do so, just leave your bag and get off about 20 minutes into the River. Then you'll find three baths of hot water springs. Before entering, you will need to shower and wash you a bit. You can then enter the thermal baths. There are three. The first contains a hot water. The second even more hot and more hot third.

Chhömröng towards Gandruk: After the place where you can access the thermal baths, you will get another 20 minutes at most before reaching a river to be crossed (with a bridge). Then, a slight rise of 15-20 minutes ferra you reach a plateau that you can walk on a flat surface for much of the day. After about 1:15-2am hour walk with the speed, turn the side of a mountain and you can appercevoir the town of Ghandruk. To reach this city, you should back up a little then. Then the final day is a very steep climb to reach the city. Good walkers should be able to make the journey between 3heures and 3heures30 including small breaks.

Ghandruk is an important village in the region. Your guide will stop at Annapurna Guesthouse probably the biggest in the region. From here you can visit the temple at the top of this place. (40 minutes walk uphill to see a very small temple! Take your pick)

Ghandruk to Naya Pool: back to where you started after your trek in the Annapurna. A very easy walk of about 4 hours. In descent on almost any time.

Fitness prior to Annapurna: The main circuit of the Annapurna (Annapurna Grand Tour of) a period of 15-18 days requires less physical fitness. The scenery is beautiful and mounted much shorter than that for the base camps. As against the grand tour of Annapurnas is tiring by the number of days of walking. The base camp is faster (between 7-10 days) but requiring mounted raids and sometimes very important. The climbs can be very demanding if your bag is heavy. For raids, the travelers who have knee problems must be well prepared. The day out of Ghorepani (to Thadapani) includes a very large rise and tiring. Try to leave early enough to avoid the sun in the afternoon.

18-day circuit around Annapurna:

This circuit is very Agreal less difficult than the trek from base camp. Indeed, the slopes are much less important. The scenery is very pretty.
